Default awk field splitting does not implement CSV quoting and escaped-quote rules. It can work for a deliberately simple delimiter-separated file with no quoted delimiters, but use a CSV-aware parser for general CSV. Verify input format before writing a transformation that could silently shift columns.

grep selects matching lines; sed applies stream transformations such as substitutions; awk processes records and fields. Quote patterns for the shell, test edits on copied input, and do not treat default awk splitting as a full CSV parser. For structured formats or complex quoting, use a format-aware parser.
